The Audi R8 is a modern motoring marvel that is guaranteed to turn heads, but does it come with cupholders?
The Audi R8 does come with cupholders, and they’re located exactly where you might expect. If you open up a covered section of the center console (by pressing a small button) you’ll see two standard cupholders, tucked out of sight.
Read on to learn more about the awesome Audi R8 and what’s inside it.
How Do You Rate the R8?
The Audi R8 is an extremely prolific car, boasting a sleek and futuristic build, powerful engine, and demanding road presence. It’s been on the market since 2006 and has enjoyed a positive reception since the moment it was launched.
In fact, the R8 was such a popular car that it came to be the vehicle of choice for Marvel’s Ironman. Otherwise known as Tony Stark, the super-genius, billionaire extraordinaire was seen driving an Audi R8 on numerous occasions throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history.
If you put the popularity vote aside, the Audi R8 still remains an exquisite engineering endeavor. When it was originally launched, the top-tier R8 was built around a 5.2-liter V10 engine which was capable of top speeds of around 196 miles-per-hour.
However, the vehicle was redesigned and re-released in 2015, once again to a great fan reception. This new model was built around the same engine but it had received a considerable facelift.
It also came with a considerable price tag; the Audi R8 started at around $170,000 for the coupe variant, or $180,000 for the Spyder convertible.
The German manufacturing superpower also added an all-electric variant to its lineup in 2015. The Audi R8 e-Tron was one of a number of electric and hybrid models that Audi would come to add to its roster.
As the years wore on, the R8 only became more and more advanced. Its development was owed primarily to the parent company and driving force behind Audi: Volkswagen Group.
The Group is one of the biggest vehicle conglomerates in the industry, owning brand names like Lamborghini, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Skoda. They’ve taken some of the engineering used in top-end vehicles like the Lamborghini Huracán and incorporated it into the Audi R8.
Impressive Inside and Out
More often than not, it’s a nice interior that can impress an owner more than a nice exterior. The inside of the car is where they’ll spend the majority of their driving time, and comfort and entertainment sometimes outweigh outward aesthetic.
Where these aspects are concerned, the Audi R8 just doesn’t disappoint. Reportedly, the original R8 line fell short of the mark with a less-than-luxurious interior, but the new build redeemed itself in droves.
One reviewer goes as far as to comment on the ‘smell’ of a brand new Audi R8, ranking it up there with the look and feel of the cockpit.
As they moved forward into the modern era, Audi did away with the old-fashioned analog dials, opting instead for an all-digital display. The substantially large screen that nestled behind the steering wheel displayed everything the driver needed to know about their car.
While the majority of cars on the market today have an entertainment console in the center of the dash, Audi went a different route. Everything from the GPS to the in-car options was displayed on that digital display.
The center of the console itself was lined with high-quality controls and dials. There was an abundance of carbon fiber, aluminum, and gloss plastics.
Audi had even been so nice as to include ample cupholder space, located under a flip-top storage section in the center console. You simply pressed a button, and hey presto, two cupholders were revealed.
Remarkably, these upgrades and improvements hadn’t affected the price at all. You could still pick up a brand new Audi R8 coupe for around $170,000 in 2020.
In a review by usnews.com, the 2020 Audi R8 was described as having ‘gobs of power that lets you rule the road’. They expanded on this by explaining it came with ‘mind-blowing performance’.
Thankfully, it doesn’t have a dramatically long list of competitors, either. There’s the Porsche 911, which starts at around $200,000, or perhaps the Chevrolet Corvette, which retails at just $70,000 for the top-spec model.
However, if you’re an Ironman fan, you’ll definitely want to be seen in an Audi R8.
