Moncler is a popular and luxurious outdoor clothing brand with a prestigious history, but does the company itself ever host sales?
When buying direct from Moncler, customers will never find items at a discounted price, as the company doesn’t have sales. But, if purchasing from a reseller, third-party retailer, or outlet, discounts can be found on Moncler’s products.

Read on to learn more about Moncler, how it came to exist, and why it’s such a popular brand today.
The Origins In The Mountains
Today, you can see celebrities rocking Moncler products both in the streets and on the slopes. In recent years, Moncler has gained remarkable fame through a celebrity endorsement of sorts, the most memorable being Drake in his Hotline Bling video.
The red puffer jacket that is worn by the artist himself was an attractive Moncler product whose sales skyrocketed following the release of the track. However, the modern and urban brand that we know and love today started off in a very different fashion.
It was in 1952, and Moncler was a very small outfit, working out of a mountain village near Grenoble in France. The company was responsible for the manufacture of sleeping bags and tents – quite humble and considerably small-time.
However, when the company grew slightly and gathered more employees, the higher-ups decided to do something generous for its workers. It outfitted the staff with innovative and highly effective down jackets.
These particular jackets were made to guard against the cold of the Alps, and they featured an ingenious lining crafted from feathers. Now, it could have ended there but it didn’t, as the jackets were spotted by an experienced mountaineer, Lionel Terray.
He insisted the jackets were bursting with potential (and feathers), and that Moncler should look to market them to a wider audience. So, as the story goes, Moncler partnered with Terray, created the perfect down jacket, and began selling them.
Before long, Moncler’s products were being used to outfit expeditionists, mountaineers, and even Winter Olympics teams from far and wide. In Moncler’s legendary winter clothing, people traveled to Alaska, up Everest, and to the North Pole.
But all that was set to change.
Take It And Change It
Throughout the 1980s, Moncler’s style changed dramatically, and it became more of a ‘public’ product. It began marketing itself to the skiing fanatics and winter vacation enthusiasts, producing bright and stand-out products.
Within a few short years, Moncler was the aspirational brand of choice for those embarking on a trip down the slopes. Not only that, but Moncler became an ‘everyday’ product for the wealthier individual, even if they didn’t leave the city.
And then, by the twenty-first century, Moncler was an iconic and sought-after brand, favored by celebrities and affluent people the world over. Although it wasn’t about to reach the uber-luxurious heights of Louis Vuitton, for example, it was doing extremely well for itself.
That being said, there can be no doubt that Moncler certainly is a luxury brand in itself. In fact, we broke that statement down in an entire article, highlighting exactly why Moncler is so luxurious.
Today, Moncler’s products are considerably expensive, but not dramatically so. If you wander into a store selling Moncler jackets, you can likely pick one out for around six hundred dollars – a price that might seem steep, but it is luxury, right?
Owning Opulence
If you want to purchase a Moncler product direct from the company itself, be expected to pay full price. It’s an unfortunate fact, but Moncler doesn’t hold sales on its products, not even around special events like Black Friday.
But, if you want to save a little money, you can try shopping with a third-party vendor, reseller, or an outlet that stocks Moncler products. In these establishments, you’re almost certain to find Moncler products on sale – quite considerably, in some cases.
As with many high-fashion and luxury brands, it sometimes pays to steer clear of the official seller – provided the reseller is reputable, of course. The last thing you want to do is purchase a fake or fraudulent product.
However, since the 1990s, Moncler has massively diversified its offerings, so don’t be mistaken by thinking the company sells just outdoor jackets. If you shop with Moncler these days, you could be picking out all kinds of bags, items of clothing, and accessories.
So, if you’re hitting the slopes in the near future and want to look your best, consider Moncler for your outdoor clothing needs.
