Moncler is an Italian luxury fashion brand that, among other things, produces some high-end sunglasses – but are they polarized as standard?
Like many manufacturers of a similar type, Moncler makes a wide range of sunglasses, some of which certainly are polarized. Although, the majority of Moncler’s sunglasses range features standard tinted plastic or glass lenses.
Read on to learn more about Moncler, why it’s such a luxurious brand, and what the deal is with its sunglasses.
In The City Or On The Slopes
Today, Moncler is an aspirational brand, coveted by many of the world’s elite and famed for its high quality and sense of status. It’s a considerably expensive label that has come to be diverse and widely appreciated, despite having relatively humble beginnings.
Moncler was founded back in 1952 in France, with the original company being focused on the production of tents and sleeping bags. However, the innovative minds of Moncler’s designers, combined with the cold, harsh climate in which the company was based, triggered an event.
In a bid to protect workers in the mountains region of Grenoble from the cold, Moncler’s designers created a jacket. This was an almost unique quilted jacket, made using ‘down’ lining – padding made from the soft feathers of certain birds.
Coincidentally, these jackets were stumbled upon by an avid mountaineer, Lionel Terray, who recognized an opportunity. From that day on, a bountiful partnership was formed, and Moncler began working on a range of high-quality and luxurious quilted jackets.
Following successful runs with explorers, expeditionists, and even winter Olympians, Moncler became an industry staple. As the years wore on, more Moncler lines were released, including skiwear, casual jackets, accessories, backpacks, and a huge amount more.
Within fifty years, Moncler had effectively come down from the mountains and broken its way into the city. The Moncler brand became a prestigious and sought-after one, being worn out on the streets as much as it was up on the slopes.
Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize
Today, Moncler puts out a diverse range of accessories, all of them meticulously designed and relatively high priced. If you take a cursory glance through the company’s website, you’ll see caps, clutch bags, carry cases, gloves, and yes – sunglasses.
Moncler’s range of sunglasses is a mixed batch, and you can just as easily find Moncler ski goggles as you can easy wearing aviator-style shades. Although, if you’re going to buy a pair, you’ll need to invest some serious cash, as at the minimum, Moncler sunglasses cost around $300.
Thankfully, they do seem to be worth the money – at least, according to those who wear them. Moncler’s sunglasses come with positive reviews and remarkable durability, and they serve a wide range of purposes.
If you’re in the market with eye protection in mind, you’ll likely be searching for polarized sunglasses. These particular sunglasses feature a special lens that improves clarity in ‘bright situations’, reduces glare, and mitigates the impact that the sun’s UV rays have on your eyes.
Fortunately, Moncler has you covered, offering a range of sunglasses with these high-tech polarized lenses. In most cases, any sunglasses frames can be equipped with polarized lenses, but Moncler offers various pairs of sunglasses that come with these lenses as standard.
And, you’ll be pleased to know, the polarized lenses don’t necessarily boost up the price all that much. You can purchase an attractive pair of polarized Moncler glasses, and pay almost the same amount as a consumer purchasing standard Moncler sunglasses.
The Sensible Choice?
There are many people who purchase Moncler’s products for the status symbol they provide. It’s a top-tier brand, like Louis Vuitton or Gucci, and owning a Moncler product often goes hand-in-hand with a ‘look-at-me’ attitude.
However, while that might be true, there’s no denying that Moncler’s products are of fine quality, and serve their desired purpose well. Although, there might be more sense in picking up a competitor’s item, opting to abandon the status symbol in exchange for practicality.
For example, there are those who insist the Canada Goose brand of jackets is much more effective in the cold than a Moncler jacket. They’re more affordable, higher quality, and they’re not just fashionable articles of clothing.
You don’t have to pay three hundred dollars or more for a pair of polarized sunglasses. But, if you want to be seen as a fashion icon, or rock that instantly-recognizable Moncler emblem, it’s obvious where your money should go.
